To think later on this post at Elite Trader
****************************

I posted these thoughts in an unrelated thread but they would have been more appropriate here.

Money Management is the most important thing you can do because you have 100% control of it. You have 0% control if a stock/currency/derivative goes up or down. Sit and think about that for a long time.
MM is 1000x more important than doing T.A. I actually never look at charts. T.A is for fools who think they can predict the future. They will claim they that predicted moves. Guess what a price can only do 2 things, go up or go down. There is no third dimension it can go into!
So someone doing TA should be right at least 50% of the time. People remember the times they were right and suppress the memories of when they were wrong which skews their thoughts.

If you use TA and are wrong 50% or more of the time and losing money sit and think about that for a very, very long time. I would suggest not trading again till you have come up with an answer.
Draw enough lines on a chart and you will see price react to them

Think about this. With absolutely no TA I could enter 1000 total random positions, 500 would immediately become winners. As I said if you do TA and lose more than 50% of the time there is something seriously wrong with your understanding of trading and MM

Here is a good exercise that I used to do with forex to sharpen my skills. Take the 32 main pairs. Randomly buy and sell so you are 16 buys/16 sells.
Now manage the trades as you see fit, do whatever it takes but NEVER EVER look at the charts!! only look at the total P/L
Do this over and over and over and over until you realize that you can become profitable using only MM. Remember you will be immediately profitable on 50% of the positions by doing absolutely nothing.
The first few times are hard. But you have to bend your mind and think differently.
NEVER look at the charts, human brains are wired to look for patterns.
The results will be enlightening and profitable for those who are willing to take on the endeavour.

One more thing for the TA people. Consider this, Steve Nisson is considered to be the father of candlestick analysis having brought them to N.A from Japan and written many books about it.

Yet he does not trade.....

You would think the man who is the master of candlestick patterns would be able to use his knowledge and use the markets like he is raiding a piggy bank

Yet he does not trade.....

If the Master of chart analysis does not trade what hope do you have?

This was one of the critical pieces of information that I learned and I stopped using charts and then I became profitable.
The only thing I look at are option chains

Traders common problem - (Brain - trading plan - chart settings - execution)

Brain fatigue will spoil a well laid out good trading plan.
Thats why some traders need automation.

Good trading plan need to be presented in chart, thus brain memory should be used purely for execution.

Another problem is to choose correct tools and correct settings to use on charts that closely resemble the trading plan.

Once traders solved these interlink problems, their trading plan execution might improve.

Opening 9am magic

Opening 9 am for CL trading seems has a magic of its own.
9am could be a starting point of a trend.
9am also could be a end point of a trend.
Its like a S R line.
eg. Monday 7 Dec -

MFE 20 tiks, then exit -ve 1tik

The Angel say take the profit 20tiks  but the Devil say can take all 40tiks.
Waiting price goes to previous day low proved backfired.
2 great lesson not found in the trading books  -
A)  price can wait  but time can'T.
B) a winner in trading can take half.
Next week pls.

Bread, butter & cheese.

My bread : Mov - (not availbale - so no trade on Tuesday)
My butter: Movfailed - this is interesting to watch (reminding me of  POP rule 1)
My cheese:  Squashline - available but still scared to use it in live trade, simply because the R:R is not that great compared to Mov setup.
I'm looking for breads only at the moment.

missed entry

focus out due to  important phone call during open.

this is inside previous day - so its choppy as expected.
I looked at big frame after opening AND KEEP that big frame that could create confusion...
chart selection should change to small frame after 15 minutes of opening...
if I picked the small frame - entry must be entered after 2 candle without waiting for confirmation
becoz if wait for confirmation the opportunity akready gone in this choppy mkt.

so the standard operating procedure is
1) looked at prvious day hi lo - inside or outside to gauge which better chart frame
2) preopening till 15 min - looked at big frame chart to look for potential trending move.
3) if no trend detected, switch to small frame  -to play hit and run, without 3rd candle confirmation

missed short entry by 1 tick

so no trade ..choppy session

after : the green mother candle is a signal to long direction - together with double bottom and large triangle (SHOE) that indicated a potential of BIG move afterwards. The move is Choppy but big one.

may need to refer back to daily chart...refer to mother candle & IB

3 kind of breaks in trading that nobody teach you at Harvard Business School

1) Unbreakable e.g. double bottom - big range (fact) - vol, min
2) True Breakout  from range -small range (fact) -min
3) Fake Breaks at extreme then reverse - 123 stars (fact) - vol
*) WMA Color support - entry at touch - dir follow color
+
4) POHLC (fact) - vol, min
5) MA (position of price, and position of MA to previous MA)
5) Mother candle (theory)
6) First 5 minutes (theory)

A very good article on Trading...

https://butterboy.wordpress.com/2006/09/04/dont-make-trading-harder-than-it-is/

The essence of trading is this, and why trading is hard work.

"Expert traders don’t know where the market will go, expert traders just take setups that have worked before and know how much to lose on a particular trade"

3 elements: Uncertainty in direction, calculated risk and  working setup.

Always remember and aplly this in your trading, you're a trading rockstar sooner or later.

Success in failures

As there are many failed patterns - so I will keep in mind of this failed patterns to make a trading entry and exit

Trading has no rule

And all man made rules are not reliable.

this thought popup yesterday and it help scoring some ticks!

2 phases of trading

Before I forgot I would like to pen down 2 phases of trading and traders:.

Trading:
1) Has direction
2) No Direction.

TRADER:
1) Beginner tend to learn all things and complexing things.
2) Old timers tend to simplify things.

When CL began to drop 6 months ago, the market showed direction . as the market bottoming out (some called it coiling, consolidated), the market has no direction.

Market will go up when PRICE go up. Market will go down when price go down.
Its not bid or ask...Many bids, but at flat price will not make market go up.
So this is the holy grail for me:
I has to find SIMPLE way to read when PRICE go up, then I will go long.
Hahaha.
Simple ...but its not easy....

No signal - no trading

next > BCIC big candle inside candle, vwap, ohlc, 40min before EiA, 10min before opening

Monday, 24 November 2014

Done 2 attempts according to rules, mini profit.

An inside bar day...1st attempt, the MA  rules not completed as i expect pingpong movement, true enough that quite big profit diminished slowly and 2nd attempt as MA rules completed ended in negative but the signal is valid, therefore wait it out than close it in hurry as usual and then market let me out at minimal profit.

I need to manage the right tactic for right situation. Need more exp

Suggest: PingPong tactic in 5min chart is more suitable for inside day than usual MA trendfollowing
